Holy Week Devotional: Holy Saturday
Holy Saturday: Taking Stock
Scripture: Matthew 27: 57-66
This is the day of the already but not yet.
The in-between day that bewilders.
This is the day of the signed contracts but unbroken ground.
The day of promises made but not yet made good.
We measure our hope out with metered breaths
and wait.
The work continues beneath the surface.
But our impatient eyes, our eager hearts yearn
For what comes next.
Question for reflection: What are you waiting for on this Holy Saturday?
Prayer:
Eternal God, rock and refuge:
with roots grown old in the earth,
river beds run dry,
and flowers withered in the field,
we wait for revival and release.
Abide with us
until we come alive
in the sunrise of your glory. Amen.
